We are a Swedish venture-building startup specializing in emerging markets, and our story begins with a friendship, sprouting in a college lab in Sweden back in 2013.
Mohamed had moved to conduct his masters in Entrepreneurship at Lund University when he met Fredrik, a Service Management major.
As their friendship grew over coffee, books and computer screens during the endless all-nighters spent at Lund Venture Lab, they found that they shared a passion for design and tech and a thirst to build several ventures that help them develop information transparency and market accessibility to the Middle Eastern and North African market.
It was then that Mohamed Rizk and Fredrik Granström got the idea to start Brantu; a Swedish-Egyptian venture-building startup specialized in building e-commerce platforms in emerging markets.
The idea was met with great enthusiasm from the university and Swedish government, and they received several innovation grants from ALMI and Lund University Innovation in support. Together, Mohamed and Fredrik established Brantu in August 2016, and they chose to be in the heart of the region’s booming e-commerce industry by establishing their office in Cairo.
Next to their executive duties as Brantu CEOs, Mohammed and Fredrik are also integral members in their company's front lines; Mohamed is responsible for the front-end development of our in-house ventures, and Fredrik takes part in the design and business development activities of our brand.
